Looking out over the water from the alfresco dining area of their new home, Ian and Lee Pitts appear completely at ease in their surrounds.

“On a few occasions, we have sat together over a glass of wine admiring the view and asked, ‘What would we change?’ – to date, we are yet to think of anything,” says Ian.

849 Mandurah Residence built by Giorgi is as impressive as it is inviting. Designed to be a year-round entertainer, the architecture seamlessly connects the indoor and the outdoor living spaces, celebrating the home’s position alongside the serene Halls Head canals.

Large expanses of glass are paired with natural materials including stone blockwork and vertical timber panelling for a timeless and elegant appeal.

What led you to Giorgi?

We met the Giorgi family on a few occasions socially. We got the sense quite quickly they were good, genuine people.

At my son’s insistence, we visited Giorgi’s Open House in Dalkeith. We were impressed by what we saw and during our visit we spoke to the Sales and Marketing Director, Danny Giorgi, at length.

We posed the question, ‘Would Giorgi build a home in Halls Head?’ Danny confirmed for the right project they would, and so that is where our design and build journey began.

What was your design brief and how did Giorgi bring it to life?

We frequently visit Noosa in Queensland and drew inspiration from the local architecture – contemporary homes featuring high-quality stone, glass, and timber. We like the way the natural environment is celebrated and integrated as part of these coastal designs. This was something we looked to emulate.

It was a pleasure working with Giorgi’s Lead Architect. We had a fantastic connection from our first meeting. They understood the brief and were able to expertly interpret it for our site in Halls Head.

How would you describe the building process with Giorgi?

We have built 11 homes and the process with Giorgi has been without a doubt, the best.

Our build commenced at the start of the pandemic. Despite it being a challenging time for the construction industry, we had a fantastic experience with Giorgi.

Giorgi’s Building Supervisor was the best we have worked with. He was obliging, efficient and meticulous with his workmanship.

As much as we tried not to come to site too often, it was difficult to stay away! It was a pleasure to meet the trades. It was clear they were passionate craftspeople. Each person on site was hard working, genuine and engaging.

What was your highlight of the design and construct process with Giorgi?

To witness the scaffolding come down was certainly a highlight. Being a complex design, with the interior and exterior intrinsically linked, this was the moment we saw the home really come to life.

Did Giorgi meet your expectations in terms of delivering what had been designed?

Absolutely. Giorgi were meticulous in the design process. The renders and drawings gave us a clear indication of what to expect at completion. This attention to detail continued through construction. The final product is to the exact specifications we were promised.

What is your favourite feature of the home?

We love the alfresco area. Many of our friends visit by boat – the home welcomes them with a seamless journey from the jetty to the outdoor entertaining area.

It is such an inviting proposition that at times, we suffer from too many visitors!

What makes this house feel like a home?

The house is warm, open, and inviting. The design connects the indoor and outdoor living spaces and kitchen effortlessly. It is as functional as it is beautiful.
