Located in Dalkeith, it’s a home conceived to stand the test of time, both aesthetically and practically. Our clients are an empty nester couple who briefed us to create their forever home on a single level with no staircase. The idea was to enable them to enjoy their new living quarters not only now but in years to come.

At the entrance, a natural stone blade wall and imposing 3x2m custom timber pivot door set the tone for what’s to come. Inside, bold choices such as polished concrete floors and polished plaster ceilings are tempered by the warmth of dark timber for the cabinetry and living room floor, with upholstered fabric wall panels adding a further softening touch.
Concrete has been used in an imaginative and refined manner throughout the home, including the roof, which allows for generous overhangs and the appearance of a thin, light floating roof plane. When it comes to finishes, a minimal industrial chic palette allows the architectural form to be the hero.
